The 4C's

Cut
Cut is considered the most important aspect towards determining diamond quality, the cut refers to the quality of a diamonds angles, proportions, symmetrical facets, brilliance, fire, scintillation and finishing details. These factors all impact a diamonds overall sparkle.
Color
Color is graded in terms of how white or colorless a diamond is. For a standard diamond, the ideal color is none at all. GIA's D to Z color grading system measures the degree of colorlessness, D being colorless, E slightly less colorless and so on.
Clarity
Diamonds have a variety of internal characteristics called inclusions and external characteristics called blemishes. Evaluating the diamonds clarity involves determining the number, size, releif, nature and position of these characteristics.
Carat
Carat refers to the weight of the diamond, not the size. For example a one carat diamond weighs 1.00 gram and a half carat weighs .50 gram. Depending on the diamond shape and cut, 2 different one carat diamonds could be very different in size.
We know that there are just 4 C's, but we feel that by getting an education on the proper way to make a diamond purchase, this will ensure that you make an informed budget concious decision with confidence.
